Rin Shima has left her home prefecture of Yamanashi to work for a small publisher in Nagoya, where she lives alone. One weekend, as she plans a motorcycle trip, an unexpected message arrives from her high-school friend Chiaki Ogaki: “I’m in Nagoya right now.”

Chiaki works for Yamanashi’s tourism promotion organisation and is responsible for redeveloping a facility that closed several years earlier. “If there’s this much space, why not make it a campsite?” Rin’s casual remark sets Chiaki in motion.

Nadeshiko Kagamihara works in an outdoor-goods shop in Tokyo, Aoi Inuyama has become a primary-school teacher in Yamanashi, and Ena Saito works in a pet-grooming salon in Yokohama.
