A Man Who Defies the World of BL Season 2 Blu-ray

Mob refuses to surrender to this world: his battle with the handsome men of boys’ love manga begins again. Atsuhiro Inukai returns for the second season, joined by a cast of twenty men. The first season recreated the original manga’s world, repeatedly trended on social media and continued attracting responses after its broadcast. Fans’ enthusiasm brings the comedy back with returning leads, new characters and an even livelier version of its distinctive setting.

Kenta Izuka, known for the Pornographer series and work across film, television and theater, plays Igarashi, the former boyfriend of Kikuchi—the classmate to whom Mob confessed at the end of season one. Model and actor Baku Idegami appears as cat-café worker Yamazaki. Keishi Togashi, who played Ren Akamichi/Kamen Rider Kenzan in Kamen Rider Saber, takes on the shy high-school student Minami, secretly in love with Mob’s brother Ayato, played by Yutaro. Kohei Shoji, known as Kiramai Silver in Mashin Sentai Kiramager, also joins, alongside performers active in 2.5D stage productions.

The opening brings together Inukai, Yutaro, Asahi Ito, Akihisa Shiono and Izuka in flamboyant 1950s rockabilly fashion. Returning choreographer KANATA gives them a more challenging routine: despite struggling with its increased difficulty, the five display their individual personalities and close teamwork in a coordinated dance, with costumes recalling—and aiming to outdo—the spectacle of a Manhattan-set movie musical.

This is a world inside a boys’ love manga, and its unlikely protagonist is an ordinary university student who wants to remain a background character. After avoiding the romances that unfold around him, Mob finally tells his classmate Kikuchi that he likes him. Just as he imagines leaving the sidelines to become a leading character with Kikuchi, Igarashi appears. Having realized during their separation that Kikuchi is the only one for him, Igarashi declares his feelings, and the two kiss in front of Mob. Concluding that even the biggest romantic turning point cannot change his background-character status, Mob throws himself back into his struggle against the flags that keep pointing him toward romance.

The edition includes the Vs Flag Countermeasure booklet, both the original-broadcast thirty-seven-minute making-of programme and its disc-exclusive expanded eighty-minute version, the creditless Ore wa Mob opening and a collection of promotional spots.
