Absolute Zero Season 3 Preventive Crime Investigation Blu-ray Box

They know the criminals of the future. Ikki Sawamura makes his first starring appearance in Fuji Television's Monday-night drama slot in an undercover action drama about Mihan, a team investigating crimes before they occur. Earlier seasons followed rookie detective Izumi Sakuragi as she grew through cold-case investigations in season one and undercover operations in season two. Season three centers on former elite public security detective Norito Izawa and a team that predicts and investigates future crimes, with undercover work, action and unexpected developments.

Izawa appears easygoing and difficult to read, but he is the former elite officer leading the preventive crime investigation team. Mihan's other members are played by Yu Yokoyama of Kanjani Eight, Tsubasa Honda, Tokio Emoto, Mitsuru Hirata and Atsushi Ito. Aya Ueto returns as Izumi Sakuragi, whose role holds a key to the mystery running through the story.

After an incident, Izawa is transferred from the second foreign affairs division of public security to an annex of the general affairs records department. His new colleagues are police troublemakers: Yui Odagiri, transferred for using excessive force against a molestation suspect; Hikotarou Minami, who struggles with social contact and has worked in records since joining the force; and Kaoru Tamura, who has been moved through various departments. In reality, the annex has been entrusted with a secret project led by special investigator Sadaharu Todo of the criminal planning division. The Mihan system analyzes personal data, including communication records, banking transactions and security-camera footage, against fifteen years of crime records, using artificial intelligence to identify people likely to commit serious crimes, especially murder. The team is testing the system for practical use.

Meanwhile, Toru Yamauchi continues searching independently for his former partner Izumi after her disappearance led to the dissolution of their special investigation team. As the investigation stalls, his helplessness and distrust of the police lead him to strike a superior, resulting in a transfer to the records annex. Mihan identifies people at risk of committing murder, but cannot establish when, where, whom or why they will kill. Yamauchi doubts a system that could produce false accusations. He warns Izawa that their investigations cannot be made public and that the police will abandon them if anything happens. Then Mihan identifies a dangerous person for test case number five. This is the opening story of the first episode.

The three-disc box contains 500 minutes of the main series, with Japanese subtitles for the main program. Bonus footage includes the production announcement, compilations of Izawa's, Yamauchi's and Odagiri's action scenes, special interviews with the Mihan members, filming-wrap footage and promotional spots. The cast also includes Magy, Michiko Tanaka and Ikuji Nakamura.
