Asamadaki - Chomu Art Collection
朝まだき ちょむ作品集
Asamadaki explores the hopes and private feelings of girls in Chomu's first collection of traditional illustrations: the desire to look beautiful, draw closer to someone they admire or come to terms with themselves. Fleeting gestures and expressions carry these stories, with close attention to makeup colors, skin texture and individual strands of hair.
Previously shared artwork appears alongside new illustrations, notebook sketches and previously unpublished comics. A behind-the-scenes look follows the unusual color choices that develop into finished images. Chomu works primarily with Copic markers and colored pencils, giving the book's focus on hand-drawn art a distinctive material basis. Published by Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, this Japanese-language collection contains 128 pages.
