Awesome: Four Players' SV League Journey Blu-ray

Awesome follows four players through the inaugural season of Japan's SV.LEAGUE MEN, the volleyball competition launched in October 2024. With fourteen women's teams and ten men's teams joining the new league, the film focuses on the men's championship through personal accounts of competition, pressure and recovery.

Outside hitter Ran Takahashi returned to Japan as the league began and won four individual awards, including championship MVP, with Suntory Sunbirds Osaka. Setter Masahiro Sekita, then with JTEKT STINGS Aichi in the 2024-25 season, shapes matches through his precise distribution. Opposite Yuji Nishida leads Osaka Bluteon with power and jumping ability, while outside hitter Masahiro Yanagida brings his experience as Japan captain and an overseas player to Tokyo Great Bears.

Exclusive interviews conducted after that first season revisit the championship matches and reveal the doubts and struggles behind the performances. Cameras also follow the players during their private time, showing how each refreshes and prepares for the next season. Actor and volleyball fan Fumiya Takahashi narrates, with opening and closing music written by The Birthday.

The two-Blu-ray edition contains the 98-minute documentary, a trailer and 127 minutes of additional footage. Extras include previously unseen interviews and offstage material, a look at Takahashi recording the narration, a collection of standout plays from the film and short videos released on X. A 24-page booklet is enclosed. The feature has Japanese Dolby Audio 5.1 sound; the bonus disc uses Dolby Audio stereo. Neither disc has subtitles.
