Black Showman Deluxe Edition Blu-ray

Two months before her wedding, Mayo Kamio returns to her hometown after her father Eiichi, a former junior-high-school teacher, is murdered. The town has struggled since the pandemic drove tourists away, and the killing leaves another wound in a community that knew and respected him. Determined to learn why he died, Mayo finds an unexpected ally in her uncle Takeshi, a former magician who once made his name in Las Vegas.

Takeshi combines remarkable sleight of hand, a talent for questionable behavior and a mentalist's eye for human weakness. Together with Mayo, he uses observation, misdirection and probing questions to investigate the death of a member of their own family. Masaharu Fukuyama and Kasumi Arimura lead Ryo Tanaka's adaptation of Keigo Higashino's Black Showman and the Murder in a Nameless Town, scripted by Natsu Hashimoto, with music by Naoki Sato and Fukuyama's theme song "Genkai."

The supporting cast includes Ryo Narita, Erika Ikuta, Subaru Kimura, Yuki Morinaga, Hiroki Akiyama of Hanako, Atsuhiro Inukai, Sae Okazaki, Win Morisaki, Tomomi Maruyama, Mari Hamada, Atsushi Ito, Katsuhisa Namase and Toru Nakamura.

This deluxe edition contains the 127-minute film and trailers, teasers and television spots on its feature Blu-ray. A second Blu-ray offers more than five and a half hours of supplementary material, including the special making-of documentary "The Path of Filming," the release special in which the cast discuss the production, and event footage from the August 11 completion announcement, August 26 premiere, September 3 pre-release event, September 12 opening-day appearances and September 23 audience-appreciation event. It also includes a special conversation between Fukuyama and Arimura, Akiyama's on-set GoPro footage and the film's Mezamashi Television collaboration segments.

The two discs are housed in a deluxe outer case with five visual cards. The feature has Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 tracks, a Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 audio-description track and Japanese accessibility subtitles. The bonus Blu-ray uses Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0.
