Bungo to Alchemist: Tsumugu Mono no Prelude Stage Blu-ray

The eighth stage adaptation of Bungo to Alchemist, the PC-browser and app game available through DMM GAMES!

Believing in their own literature, Hakushu Kitahara and his fellow writers head into battle to halt the never-ending erosion.

Bungo to Alchemist is a reincarnation simulation game in which players work alongside great writers to protect literary works from enemies known as the “Eroders”, before literature is erased from people’s memories.

The first stage adaptation opened in February 2019. Tsumugu Mono no Prelude is the eighth production in the series, continuing the game’s world and using its music on stage.

Hakushu Kitahara returns to lead the story after his appearances in the third and sixth productions. He reunites with fellow Myojo writers Takuboku Ishikawa and Kotaro Takamura, who appeared in the seventh production. Masao Kume also returns after the fifth production, while Sanjugo Naoki, Yakumo Koizumi, Faust and an original stage character, the young man, make their series debuts.

The accompanying behind-the-scenes material offers another perspective on the production. Rehearsals and backstage footage reveal sides of the performers that cannot be seen in the main performance, while discussions with the principal performers revisit their work. Conversations with guests from earlier productions make this a special release for fans of the Bungeki series.

The production was performed at Tokyo’s IMM Theater from May 1 to May 11, 2025, and at Kyoto Theater from May 17 to May 18, 2025.

After saving the Imperial Library with Osamu Dazai and the others, Hakushu Kitahara has stopped writing.

Rather than choosing reincarnation, he remains between life and death, in a place filled with negative emotions. There he seeks a way to destroy the evil alchemist who is attempting to return once again.

Meanwhile, Takuboku Ishikawa, Kotaro Takamura and Yakumo Koizumi are trying to bring Hakushu back through reincarnation. Masao Kume and Sanjugo Naoki are searching for a writer with whom they share a deep friendship.

When the writers meet the alchemist Faust, he tells them about “a young man who once tried to save the world through literature”.

To stop the never-ending erosion, the great writers place their faith in their own literature and set out for battle.
