The fifth stage adaptation of the DMM GAMES PC browser and mobile game Bungou to Alchemist! A new battle begins for Ryunosuke Akutagawa and his companions as they fight to protect literature.

Bungou to Alchemist is a literary-author reincarnation simulation game Before literature can be stolen from people's memories, the player works with literary authors to protect books from their enemies, the Corroders. The first stage adaptation was performed in February 2019; Bungou to Alchemist: Nagekibito no Rondo (Rondo of the Lamenting Ones) is the fifth production in the stage series. Yusei Naruse writes the script and Kotaro Yoshitani directs. Its incidental music uses the game's compositions by Hideki Sakamoto of Noisycroak, and Jiro Ishii supervises the setting as he does for the game.

In the fifth production, the conflict Ryunosuke Akutagawa, played by Hidetoshi Kubota, has long carried regarding his friend Masao Kume, played by Yuya Asato, is finally explored. Kubota's Akutagawa also reveals the special costume introduced in new content in the original game: an outfit that only those who have faced and overcome the conflict in their own hearts can wear.

The incidental music again uses Hideki Sakamoto's game compositions from Noisycroak. ROU performs the theme song.

The Tokyo run took place from September 2 to September 11, 2022 at Shinagawa Prince Hotel's Stellar Ball, with 13 performances. The Osaka run took place from September 17 to September 19, 2022 at Morinomiya Piloti Hall, with five performances.

The literary authors have been reincarnated into this world to protect literary works. Ryunosuke Akutagawa, who has repeatedly battled the Corroders, reunites with his close friend Kan Kikuchi and other colleagues from Shinshicho. Their joy is short-lived: Kokoro, written by his mentor Soseki Natsume, is being corroded. They must enter the book as quickly as possible and stop the corrosion. But Masao Kume, another of Natsume's students, refuses to cooperate with Akutagawa.

The package contains a booklet. Its bonus DVD includes making-of footage, a cast round-table discussion, a full-stage view of the opening, and the curtain call from the final Osaka performance. The original sticker was a first-production-only inclusion and is marked as no longer available by the specialist catalogue; it is excluded from this listing.
