Check in Hanyang: Korean Broadcast Version Box 1 Blu-ray

Check in Hanyang opens the doors of Yongcheonru, a Joseon-era inn whose splendour rivals the royal palace. Four young apprentices arrive carrying secrets, ambitions and unfinished family business. This first Blu-ray box presents episodes 1-8 of the Korean broadcast version, following their first encounters and the friendship that grows out of their frequent clashes.

Hong Deok-su, played by Kim Ji-eun, has lived disguised as a man in accordance with her father's final wishes. She enters the inn to uncover the truth behind his death. Bae In-hyuk plays Prince Lee Eun, who takes the name Lee Eun-ho while searching for a brass key that could expose the hidden power threatening the royal household. Jung Gun-joo's Cheon Jun-hwa conceals his position as Yongcheonru's heir, while Park Jae-chan portrays Go Soo-ra, a determined young man hoping to rebuild his ruined family's fortunes.

Deok-su and Eun are already on bad terms before their apprenticeship begins. Their arguments repeatedly draw Jun-hwa and Soo-ra into trouble, earning the group its reputation as the troublesome Haona quartet. As they struggle to survive their training, quarrels give way to companionship. Eun finds himself confused by feelings for Deok-su that no longer seem like friendship, while Jun-hwa discovers her identity and wants to protect her. The developing love triangle becomes entangled with conspiracies and revenge reaching back to their parents' generation.

Bae In-hyuk, known for The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, combines a prince's dignity with awkwardness in love. Kim Ji-eun of Love Next Door makes her historical-drama debut as the brave and resourceful Deok-su. Jung Gun-joo, from The Secret Romantic Guesthouse, gives Jun-hwa both playful confidence and emotional vulnerability. DKZ's Park Jae-chan, who broke through in Semantic Error, also makes his historical-drama debut, playing Soo-ra's stubbornness alongside his loyalty to his friends. The inn's elaborate interiors, carefully presented food and colourful hanbok give their story a richly detailed setting.

The Japanese dub features Masaaki Mizunaka, Atsumi Tanezaki, Toshiki Masuda and Shoya Chiba as the four leads. The supporting cast includes Kim Eui-sung, Yoon Je-moon, Han Jae-suk and Kim Min-jung, with Japanese voices by Go Hirabayashi, Kei Kurita, Daisuke Kageura and Ayaka Fukuhara. Myung Hyun-woo directs from a screenplay by Park Hyun-jin.

The three-disc set runs approximately 580 minutes and includes a 12-page colour booklet. Korean original audio and the Japanese dub are presented in Dolby Digital, with Japanese translation subtitles and Japanese subtitles for the dubbed version.
