The Lake District in north-west England is renowned as one of Britain's most scenic holiday destinations. Capturing the beautiful natural landscapes and their rolling contours, this international co-production unfolds as a human drama in the form of a road movie. Moving from Tokyo to Britain, it weaves a story of a family's love and rebirth. Acclaimed at its world premiere at the 18th Rome Film Festival, the film achieved the distinction of winning the Best First Feature award.

A journey from Tokyo to Britain's Lake District to fulfil a late wife's wish.

Kenzaburo Oshima, a writer in his sixties, loses his beloved wife Akiko after her struggle with illness. Devastated by a sense of loss that nothing can fill, he receives a letter Akiko entrusted to a temple's head priest while she was alive. In it, she expresses her final wish: for her ashes to be scattered in Britain's Lake Windermere, a place she loved.

To fulfil her wish, Kenzaburo travels to Britain with his long-estranged son Toshi, Toshi's wife Satsuki and their four-year-old daughter Emi. But the resentments between father and son cause them to clash at every turn. Setting out alone from London for the Lake District, Kenzaburo loses his way along the journey...

The release also offers deleted scenes, the uncut Japan premiere stage greetings, a conversation with the filmmaker, cast interviews, trailers and making-of footage.
