Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Box Limited Edition
魔法の天使クリィミーマミ 40th Anniversary Blu-ray BOX(特装限定版)
Creamy Mami is Cinderella at eight o'clock! Pampuru pimpuru pamupoppun, pimpuru pampuru pamupoppun! Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel returns in a redesigned Blu-ray box at a special price. The television series aired its fifty-two episodes on the Nippon TV network from July 1983 to June 1984. This masterpiece brings together leading staff behind many popular works: Kazunori Ito, known for Urusei Yatsura and Mobile Police Patlabor, provides the original concept and composition; Akemi Takada, of Mobile Police Patlabor and Kimagure Orange Road, designs the characters; Shichiro Kobayashi, of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and Revolutionary Girl Utena, directs the art; and Osamu Kobayashi, of Dokonjo Gaeru and Kimagure Orange Road, serves as chief director. The complete box also gathers the four OVA works released in response to the series' lasting popularity: Forever Once More, Lovely Serenade, Long Goodbye and Curtain Call.
Yu Morisawa is an energetic ten-year-old girl. One day, she helps the Feather Star ship after it is caught in a dream storm. As a reward, the fairy Pino Pino gives her magical powers for a limited time. Able to transform into a slightly more grown-up appearance, Yu debuts as the mysterious idol singer Creamy Mami. Unable to reveal her true identity, she begins a year of living a double life.
Forever Once More combines a television-series compilation centered on the final concert with newly created material that continues the story. Two months after superstar Creamy Mami's sudden retirement, rumors spread that she is making a comeback.
Long Goodbye takes place three years after the television finale, Final Stage. Having finished her graduation ceremony and grown a little older, Yu suddenly undergoes a strange change: despite having lost her magic, she transforms into Creamy Mami. At former rival Megumi Ayase's suggestion, Mami agrees to appear in Parthenon Productions' new film A Tale of Two Worlds. Posi and Nega appear before her once more. What is happening to Mami's body?
The Lovely Serenade music-clip OVA re-edits memorable scenes from Creamy Mami with eight songs, including "Delicate ni Suki Shite." The new song "Anata ni Ichiban Kiku Kusuri" features original footage created for the video. The Curtain Call music-clip OVA also re-edits memorable scenes; all four new songs, totaling approximately, received newly produced animation for that video.
The limited edition contains all fifty-two television episodes, with bonus footage. Bonus disc one contains the 1984 OVA and television-broadcast versions of Forever Once More. Bonus disc two contains the creditless opening and ending collection, the 1985 Long Goodbye OVA, Lovely Serenade (1985), Curtain Call (1986), Zutto Kitto Motto (1998), the 1985 theatrical short Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel vs. Minky Momo, the Magic Princess: The Great Theater Battle, Creamy Soap (1987), the 2014 picture drama Creamy Mami's Fairy Tale, and a digital still-image gallery.
New audio commentaries cover episode 13 with Takako Ohta, Yu Mizushima and Naoko Matsui, and episode 50 with Takako Ohta, Yu Mizushima and storyboard artist/director Tomomi Mochizuki. The retained first-episode commentary features Takako Ohta, Yu Mizushima, Kaneta Kimotsuki and Yuko Mita. A special booklet, a rigid wrapped box newly illustrated by character designer Akemi Takada and inner jackets newly illustrated by Studio Pierrot complete the package. The programme content follows the May 2014 Blu-ray Memorial Box, apart from the new video bonuses and booklet. Early-reservation or combined-purchase campaign gifts are excluded.
