Detective Conan Animation

Thirty years of history, back to zero once again. The special that opened the television anime’s thirtieth anniversary returns to the time shortly before Shinichi Kudo becomes Conan Edogawa after being given the Black Organization’s poison, APTX 4869. Within the chronology of the Conan story, this episode takes place even before the first episode of the television anime.

Shortly before the Black Organization’s drug transforms Shinichi into Conan Edogawa, Shinichi and Ran, who are not yet a couple, visit Beika Aquarium. They are scouting the location for their “Surprise Aquarium Reunion Lovey-Dovey Revival Operation,” a plan to reconcile Ran’s estranged parents, Kogoro Mouri and Eri Kisaki.

Their enjoyable time together is short-lived. Sensing something wrong in the strange atmosphere beyond a crowd, Shinichi detects an incident. Following the smell of blood to the scene, he discovers the body of a man stabbed in the heart in front of an aquarium tank. The weapon is a knife protruding from a convenience-store bag, and there is a stun-gun mark on the back of the victim’s neck.

Shinichi begins investigating alongside Inspector Megure, who arrives at the scene. Using a mobile phone, he identifies three suspects. The scarlet high-school detective’s deductive drama begins. Beyond this case lies another scouting trip that leads toward that day: the day he becomes Conan.
