Seize the truth—and the treasure. The curtain rises on a high-stakes battle of deduction as Conan, Heiji Hattori and Kaito Kid become entangled in a mystery that could change the course of history.

A warning from Kaito Kid arrives at the Onoe family’s storehouse in Hakodate, Hokkaido. This time his target is a Japanese sword connected to Toshizo Hijikata, the vice-commander of the Shinsengumi at the end of the Edo period. Why would a thief who normally pursues magnificent jewels be interested in a sword?

Conan and his friends are also visiting Hakodate for a kendo tournament alongside Heiji, the celebrated detective of the west. On the day announced for the theft, Heiji sees through Kid’s disguise and corners him—but their confrontation is only the beginning.

Meanwhile, a body bearing a cross-shaped wound on its chest is discovered in the warehouse district. The investigation points to a Japanese-American arms dealer known throughout Asia as the Merchant of Death. He is searching for a treasure said to have been hidden somewhere in Hakodate by the first head of the Onoe family, who was deeply involved in wartime munitions production.

Rumour claims that this treasure is a weapon powerful enough to have overturned Japan’s losing position in the war. The hidden treasure and the sword Kid seeks appear to be connected, while a mysterious swordsman closes in on the thief. A dramatic contest for a history-changing prize is about to unfold.
