Disney Animation - Concept Design Collection opens the Walt Disney Animation Studios archives to the sketches and paintings behind its characters and worlds. The selection begins with designs made around Mickey Mouse's creation in 1928 and extends across animated shorts, anthology segments and features.

Early and mid-century films include Snow White, Pinocchio, Bambi, Dumbo, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians and The Jungle Book. Later work ranges from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King to Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan and Lilo & Stitch. Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and its sequel, Big Hero 6, Zootopia and Moana broaden the contemporary selection.

The collection also reaches into short films and musical sequences, including material from Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, as well as educational and television animation. This Japanese edition adds artwork from Frozen II and Raya and the Last Dragon. The second volume in the studio's archive series after its background-art collection, this Genkosha publication contains 352 pages in Japanese.
