DREAMS COME TRUE Acoustic-Flavour Live: The Final-Polishing Evening 2021/2022 — A Fine Finish Indeed

This tour developed from the autumn 2021 to spring 2022 schedule that would originally have hosted Ura Dori Wonderland, a live celebration of deeper cuts. With the coronavirus situation still showing little sign of easing, the duo refined a concert format that could respond flexibly to whatever might happen, while also accommodating precautions. They were able to find this form precisely because the two members of DREAMS COME TRUE had continued to nurture live performance as a means of expression, finding ways forward even when meeting other people was difficult. This tour marks a place they could only have reached by continuing to walk. The release is filled with precious memories and records of that journey.

Features of this live performance A minimal ensemble that can adapt flexibly to any song The absence of drums, in particular, gives the songs a markedly different expressive range from their usual live performances. Interpretations using acoustic sound and programmed elements are blended in just the right measure. That is a characteristic akin to DNA that DREAMS COME TRUE's songs have possessed from their very beginnings. Within the airy ensemble, where the strengths of the original songs meet the latest arrangements, it is Miwa Yoshida's singing and lyrics that stand out.

The set-list structure This acoustic-flavoured ensemble also allows rare songs, seldom performed at ordinary concerts and especially seldom at full length, to line up together. The opening choices, Nando Demo and Itsu no Ma ni, convey a powerful determination that the performance had to begin here. The six songs from the eighth number, Sora wo Yomu, to the thirteenth, Yasashii Kiss wo Shite, differ in both their dates of creation and musical character, yet the breadth and depth of this material are brought together beautifully within the single vessel that is DREAMS COME TRUE. The first encore, Tsugi no Se-no! de — ON THE GREEN HILL — DCT VERSION, paints hope for the future. The set-list expresses their past, present and what is still to come with remarkable completeness.
