We're becoming idols! Hanayamata creator Sou Hamayumiba's four-panel manga about dropout idols becomes a television anime. The long-awaited adaptation of the series in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat began broadcasting in October 2020. After the hugely popular, previously animated Hanayamata, Hamayumiba moved to Manga Time Kirara Carat for this story of show-business misfits struggling through idol activities to save their home, Nezumi House, from demolition. Its unusually individualistic cast stands apart from other recent idol stories, creating a fresh take on the genre.

A gathering of promising young voice actresses: Hiyori Nitta, Izumi Asagi in Pastel Memories, plays aspiring idol Ino Sakura; Risa Kubota, Ren in Konohana Kitan, plays former famous child actress Roko Sekino; Haruka Shiraishi, Himawari in Oresuki, plays unsuccessful former musician Hayu Nukui; Reina Kondo, Nikaido in Dorohedoro, plays former fashion model Nina Maehara; and emerging multi-talented Kyoka Moriya plays promising newcomer Hemo Midori, who transfers from a major agency. Popular Cream Anmitsu members include Kaoru Sakura, Chitose Kurosaki in The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Theater Climax Season, as Chiko Sekino; Yu Sasahara, Rin Namiki in Kandagawa Jet Girls, as Nua Nakamachi; and Takako Tanaka, Hina in Hinamatsuri, as Rua Nakamachi. Their youthful energy brings these individual characters to life.

Story: First-year high-school student Ino Sakura comes to Tokyo dreaming of becoming an idol. Together with Nezumi House residents Roko, an unsuccessful former child actress, musician Hayu and model Nina, she forms the rookie idol unit Fruit Tart. To save their home from demolition, these entertainment-industry dropouts get back up again and again as they tackle idol work. Volume 2 contains Episodes 5 to 8.

Regular video extras: OchiFuru Station numbers 5 to 8 and a promotional-video collection.

Historical first-production extras, described as lavish must-haves for fans in each volume: a special box newly illustrated by original creator Sou Hamayumiba; a digipak newly illustrated by character designer Sumie Kinoshita; a special booklet; and a CD of insert songs performed by the idols in the anime. These first-press extras have ended and are not guaranteed.
