Selected by the Hanshin Tigers in the second round of the 2013 draft, eighteen-year-old Shintaro Yokota begins pursuing his dream of professional baseball. His progress reaches a first-team opening-day appearance in 2016, but double vision leads to a devastating diagnosis: a brain tumour. Supported by his mother Manami, his family, mentors and teammates, he faces a struggle far beyond the playing field. His extraordinary throw home at his retirement game on September 26, 2019 becomes a defining moment in a life that continued to inspire others.
Jun Akiyama directs this 135-minute drama based on Yokota's life, starring Takaya Matsutani and Kyoka Suzuki, with Takuya Kusakawa, Akira Emoto, Kentaro Maeda and Katsunori Takahashi. Yokota died aged twenty-eight in 2023, the year Hanshin won its first league title in eighteen years. Yuzu's "Eiko no Kakehashi" accompanies the story.
The Blu-ray includes Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio, a Japanese audio-description track and Japanese accessibility subtitles. A commentary features Matsutani, Fumiya Hojo, Rei Endo and Akiyama. Extras also include five event appearances, a roundtable with Katsuo Hirata, Matsutani, Suzuki and Akiyama, making-of footage and trailers.
