Neon Genesis Evangelion Animation

Nine years after Evangelion:3.0 You Can (Not) Redo was released in 2012, every shot of the feature has been photographed again, bringing higher resolution and new details to Evangelion:3.333.

Asuka in Evangelion Modified Unit-02 and Mari in Evangelion Unit-08 undertake Operation US in geostationary orbit. They fight a fierce battle against the disc-shaped Evangelion Mark.04 as they work to recover Evangelion Unit-01 and Shinji Ikari.

When Shinji awakens, familiar faces are waiting for him in an unexpected situation. Fourteen years have passed. Misato Katsuragi, Ritsuko Akagi and their former NERV colleagues now command the anti-NERV organisation WILLE alongside a new crew. The airborne battleship AAA Wunder is activated and repels a swarm of Mark.04 units.

Shinji alone has been recovered from Unit-01; Rei Ayanami has not been found. When Evangelion Mark.09 launches a sudden attack, Shinji hears Rei's voice and leaves the Wunder for NERV headquarters. At Gendo's order, he is to pilot Evangelion Unit-13.

The mysterious Kaworu Nagisa leads Shinji outside to see the transformed landscape and explains that the Near Third Impact triggered when Shinji rescued Rei devastated the Earth. Can Shinji, burdened with responsibility and a wounded heart, find salvation?

Newly produced making-of footage breaks down and reconstructs the cinematography and special-effects process. Image boards created during the film's production are also included. Archive footage reveals work in progress, particularly virtual-camera and motion-capture scenes, alongside material prepared for the next-film preview and unused theatrical trailers. These archive materials appear here for the first time. Revised previews for the final film, an updated recording script and promotional footage from the earlier home-video release are included, with the remaining video extras appearing on physical media for the first time. A booklet accompanies the release.
