Extremely Inappropriate! New Year Special Blu-ray

Sadao Abe returns as Ichiro Ogawa, the blunt, old-fashioned teacher whose journeys through time unsettle people in every era. Written by Kankuro Kudo, this New Year special continues Extremely Inappropriate! after Professor Inoue introduces Ichiro to a time tunnel that can take him beyond the route of the old time-travelling bus.

In January 2026, Nagisa is working at SCANDAL when Ichiro, the cafe owner and the elderly Inoue burst into her life again. Ichiro sends Kiyoshi to the summer of 1987 to prevent Junko from meeting Yuzuru, but changing his family's future proves difficult. He then travels to the day before the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake, hoping to persuade his younger self not to go to Kobe with Junko. Inoue warns him about the consequences of altering the past, while an unexpected visitor complicates his plans.

Nagisa, meanwhile, wants to make a political programme about assembly member Junko Taira. Her friends shy away from political conversation, an actor faces backlash for speaking online, and the programme is cancelled when Taira decides to stand for national office. A glimpse of 2036 draws Ichiro into another crisis involving Taira and Nagisa, forcing him to consider how far he can go to protect his daughter and granddaughter.

The cast includes Riisa Naka, Hayato Isomura, Yo Yoshida, Yuumi Kawai, Ryo Nishikido, Aito Sakamoto, Hiroki Miyake, Takehiko Ono, Yoshihiko Hakamada, Noriko Eguchi, Tomohito Yashima, Ayumu Nakajima, Koji Yamamoto and Arata Furuta. The Blu-ray contains the 124-minute drama and 93 minutes of extras: the production press conference, the complete Maruwakari SP special, filming wrap-up footage and promotional videos. An eight-page special booklet is included. Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio and accessible Japanese subtitles accompany the main programme.
