"Whatever happens, we'll be all right as long as we're together." Pretty Cure, a landmark anime series for girls, celebrates its twentieth anniversary. At the time of this edition's announcement, the newest series brought the total number of Pretty Cure warriors to seventy-seven. The vibrant legacy of the legendary Futari wa Pretty Cure finally brings every episode of Splash Star to Blu-ray for the first time, with HD remastering.

The three-sided sleeve and jacket feature newly drawn illustrations by character designer Akira Inagami. This complete first-production limited edition has luxurious packaging in a shimmering three-sided ribbon sleeve case with inline foil stamping. Episode one's storyboard and voice-recording script appear in a package edition for the first time. A newly produced booklet, initially announced as more than sixty pages, includes the twentieth-anniversary round-table discussion and staff comments; the current final specification is eighty pages. Collector's video extras are gathered from the previously released DVD boxes and compilation editions. The DVD box's exceptionally detailed booklet, including explanations of the work and design settings, is reproduced in full as a digital booklet, with some rewritten sections. The original release also announced the special Twentieth Anniversary Memorial: The Great Reunion of Three Futari wa Pretty Cure Series, gathering special guests from Futari wa Pretty Cure, Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart and Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star, and included an advance ticket-lottery application card. A second advance ticket-lottery card was included for the Pretty Cure twentieth-anniversary live event, celebrating the songs that have coloured the series. These are historical event promotions; entry periods have ended and the cards do not provide current event access.

Story Saki Hyuga is a cheerful, energetic second-year student at Yuunagi Junior High School. At the start of the new term, Mai Mishou, who once lived in the same town, transfers into her class, and the two meet again. On a summer-festival night when they were nine, they shared a mysterious experience beneath the great sky tree on the hill. One day, beneath that tree, they meet Flappy and Choppy, who have come from the Land of Fountains, and transform into the legendary warriors Pretty Cure. To recover the World Tree and the Seven Fountains, threatened with takeover by the land of destruction Dark Fall, the two confront the forces of evil.

Episodes and discs Episodes 1–49, all forty-nine episodes. One M Card carries the digital booklet; it is not an additional physical disc.

Video extras The special Splash Star conversation Leave It to Saki and Mai!, featuring Orie Kimoto and Atsuko Enomoto, originally included in the DVD box. Splash Star Fortune, the fortune-telling feature from the DVD box. Film announcements from the DVD box. Maji Doki 3D Theatre, recorded in 2D, from the DVD box. The original Japanese title includes a heart symbol. The creditless opening in its Moop and Foop appearance version, from the DVD box. A collection of transformation sequences, from the DVD box. Newly produced highlight movies using the full-length opening song Makasete Splash Star; the first ending song Warau ga Kachi! de GO!; and the second ending song Ganbalance de Dance. New HD recordings of the creditless opening and both the early and late ending sequences.

Included booklets and packaging Special Booklet I: Memorial, eighty pages. It contains the complete storyboard for episode one directed by series director Toshiaki Komura, voice-recording scripts for memorable scenes, a twentieth-anniversary round-table discussion between the two leading voice actors and staff comments. Special Booklet II: Collectors reproduces the exceptionally detailed booklet from the 2012 DVD box, advertised as more than one hundred pages, with some rewritten sections. It is presented as digital content on an M Card enclosed in an envelope. The original announcement described viewing through the QR code on the M Card. Digital redemption and continued availability are subject to the provider's terms and are not guaranteed. The originally included advance-lottery cards were for Twentieth Anniversary Memorial: The Great Reunion of Three Futari wa Pretty Cure Series and All Pretty Cure 20th Anniversary LIVE! Those historical applications have ended. An originally included participation card for the twentieth-anniversary Everyone's Most Memorable Episode survey allowed access to a dedicated voting site with a URL and serial number. Participants could vote for their most memorable episode, and the winner was to be announced at the three-series reunion event. The source's survey text says forty-seven eligible Splash Star episodes; this is separate from the confirmed forty-nine episodes actually contained in the box. This historical survey has ended. Akira Inagami's new artwork is used on the shimmering inline-foil-stamped three-sided ribbon sleeve and the Digistack cases. Picture-label discs. Retailer-exclusive gifts are excluded.
