GeGeGe no Kitaro Anime

Welcome to the frightening and fun world of yokai. Commemorating the hundredth anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth, the fifth television series of GeGeGe no Kitaro arrives in a long-awaited Blu-ray box. High-capacity Blu-ray discs hold the programme in its original SD picture size, presented in high-quality, high-bitrate SD.

A compact, affordable edition of a yokai-anime classic Following Shigeru Mizuki's birth centenary in 2022, excitement continued with the upcoming autumn 2023 theatrical release of The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe. The fifth GeGeGe no Kitaro television series, which began in 2007, returns in an affordable complete Blu-ray box. This second part contains episodes 52–100, originally broadcast from April 2008 to March 2009, as a lasting high-bitrate SD edition on high-capacity Blu-ray discs. Alongside beloved characters including Kitaro, Medama-Oyaji, Neko-Musume and Nezumi-Otoko, distinctive figures appear in battles with southern and Chinese yokai and the gathering of the Forty-Seven Yokai Warriors. The fifth television series recorded strong ratings when it aired nationwide on Fuji TV affiliates on Sundays at 09:00 from April 2007 to March 2009. Its long-awaited Blu-ray box preserves the programme in high-bitrate SD rather than presenting an HD remaster.

Characters loved across generations Since the television anime began in 1968, GeGeGe no Kitaro has been remade five times and enjoyed by a wide audience, from children to middle-aged viewers. The fifth series includes familiar characters such as Kitaro, Medama-Oyaji, Nezumi-Otoko, Sunakake-Babaa, Konaki-Jijii, Nurikabe and Ittan-Momen. Neko-Musume also appears in a variety of charming cosplay outfits, adding another appealing feature. The original promotion marked 2022 as Shigeru Mizuki's birth centenary and highlighted the then-upcoming November 2023 release of The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe. This is historical release information.

Story A strange town floats in the mist: Yokai Alley. Beyond the shopping street lies a dense forest, and beside a large swamp stands a house. This is Kitaro's home in GeGeGe Forest. As Medama-Oyaji soaks in a teacup bath and Kitaro adds hot water, a crow delivers a letter. It is an SOS from a human. Together with companions including Medama-Oyaji, Neko-Musume, Sunakake-Babaa, Konaki-Jijii and Ittan-Momen, Kitaro solves mysterious incidents that cannot be explained by the human world's common sense. He dreams of a day when humans and yokai can coexist.
