Hachioji Zombies Blu-ray

Leaving the stage behind, these handsome zombies let their personalities run wild! Sing, dance and find salvation—perhaps—in a new kind of entertainment. Tonight, a dancer whose dreams have been shattered and a group of zombies begin their battle to pass peacefully into the afterlife.

With its fresh premise, striking visuals and comic improvisation, the stage production Hachioji Zombies won devoted fans and attracted approximately 23,000 audience members. The hit now comes to the cinema. A commanding performer dons a monk's robes while a lineup of performers from the popular 2.5D stage scene become handsome zombies. Joking, laughing and fighting, these wildly uninhibited zombies create an anything-goes uproar. Can they finally find peace?

After repeatedly failing auditions, Habuki gives up his dream of becoming a dancer and heads to Kibouji, a temple deep in the mountains of Hachioji, for a training experience and a chance to find himself. The temple has one crucial rule: never visit the abandoned temple behind it after dark. Strange rumours surround the place, and Habuki is warned to stay away, especially on nights with a full moon.

Unable to abandon his love of dancing, Habuki begins practising at the ruined temple on a full-moon night. Groans announce the arrival of eight handsome zombies—the Hachioji Zombies! They tell him that dancing towards the full moon will allow them to pass into the afterlife and ask him to teach them.

But their inability to find peace conceals deeper schemes involving the temple's head priest Koumei and Hachioji's mayor Oike. What really stands between the zombies and salvation?

Bonus footage includes the making-of feature Zombies Who Find Peace About a Month Later, the Online Full Moon Festival, a stage greeting celebrating the film's release, the trailer, television spots and footage originally made available exclusively to cinema attendees.
