Hakubo no Chronicle Blu-ray Box

Hakubo no Chronicle Blu-ray Box brings Masami Yuki's supernatural mystery to live action, with Tomohiro Kamiyama of WEST. as Kai Yukimura, an Okinaga who appears to be eighteen but is actually eighty-eight. Airi Matsui plays Akari Fushiki, a new government employee whose uneasy partnership with Kai draws her into crimes involving people who do not age.

While training at a public health centre, Akari encounters a suspicious death. The victim belonged to the Okinaga, humans who cannot die unless killed by particular means. Assigned to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Nighttime Sanitation Management Division, she accompanies her supervisor Mikiya Kubozono to a private library and meets Kai. As his liaison, she begins investigating Okinaga cases alongside him. Kai also has a personal obsession: the Sheep Killer, whose murders have recurred every twelve years, in the Year of the Sheep, for six decades.

Terunosuke Takezai, Tsutomu Takahashi, Ryusuke Obayashi, Ayumi Ito and Ken Mitsuishi join the cast. Directed by Kazuhiro Nakagawa and Go Sasaki, the 2024 WOWOW drama pairs an unusual investigative duo with a mystery shaped by the burden of an exceptionally long life. WEST. performs the theme song, FATE.

The four-disc set contains all twelve episodes, arranged three per disc, with approximately 322 minutes of main programme. A 16-page booklet accompanies making-of footage, a digest of the completion screening, a roundtable discussion, promotional spots and a collection of previously unreleased scenes. Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo is provided without subtitles. The Blu-ray discs are region-free.
