A former high-flyer bogged down by life's setbacks meets a slovenly working woman in an adult romance under one roof!
Hamaru Otoko ni Keritai Onna, the much-discussed manga serialized in the hit-making magazine Kiss, comes to television. A former elite professional whose life has fallen apart unexpectedly becomes the caretaker of a retro boarding house. There, he finds himself at the mercy of an untidy female resident with whom his first encounter could hardly have been worse. As they live together, they start to become interested in each other. Yet neither the caretaker, accustomed to an elite life, nor the woman who constantly picks fights with him can be honest about their feelings. Enjoy their tantalizing adult romance under one roof!
Every episode promises the heart-fluttering frustration of a slow-burning romance. The once-successful caretaker and the untidy working woman who challenges him at every turn create a fresh whirlwind of romantic excitement. The theme song, Lemon Pie by Kis-My-Ft2, colours the drama with a refreshing expression of bittersweet feelings of love.
Koichi Shitara works for the major drinks company Kazuki Beer. As the star of its product-planning department, he enjoys an elite life that others envy. At just thirty-one, he has already won the company president's award three times and is racing up the career ladder. He lives in a high-rise apartment with his wife Natsumi, a driven professional at a foreign-owned company who also handles the housework perfectly. Everything is going smoothly, at work and at home!
Then one day, his approach to work backfires and he is suddenly transferred to a dead-end position. Realizing that this amounts to being forced out, Koichi slams down his resignation. He returns home convinced that Natsumi will understand, only to find divorce papers lying alone on the table.
Having suddenly lost both his job and his family, Koichi is stunned. He cannot even answer calls from his mother Shimako, who became successful through her business acumen after his father's death. His search for a new job also goes badly, leaving his confidence shattered. Unable to stand by and watch, his childhood friend Nao Sakuma offers him a job with a meaningful look: accommodation and meals included, flexible hours, and time to continue job hunting.
As Koichi heads to the address she gave him, a thought strikes him: could Nao be offering him a contract as someone's lover? That is out of the question! Just as he turns to leave, a bicycle comes hurtling towards him.
When Koichi wakes after the impact, he finds himself facing Itsuka Nishijima, the very person who was riding the bicycle. Mistaking Itsuka for the woman behind the supposed arrangement, the flustered Shitara blurts out something outrageous. Nao then appears and announces that she wants to hire him as caretaker of Ginseiso, the boarding house where she lives with Itsuka and Suzu Masuda. Surrounded by women, he is already overwhelmed by Itsuka, who inexplicably keeps challenging him from his very first day.
Meanwhile, Itsuka receives a call from her colleague Shun Katori. How will she react to this unexpected call from someone who should be in Osaka following a transfer?
Before he knows it, former elite professional Shitara's life as a caretaker has begun. Where will this adult life under one roof lead him, alongside Itsuka, with whom he has had the worst possible first meeting; the sharply observant Suzu; and Nao, who knows every embarrassing chapter of his past? These women are nothing if not distinctive!
