Quietly emotional scenes and a sense of nostalgia give Hamunezuko's first artbook the feeling of a series of small, self-contained stories. The illustrations combine lifelike presence and carefully rendered textures with moments that suggest a wider narrative, much like a scene from a short film.
More than 100 works bring new illustrations together with original pieces and client projects. Among them are concepts for the illustrations seen within Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night and end-card artwork for the anime, alongside other commissioned images.
Drawings and miniature-character illustrations offer a change of scale and style within the collection. Rough sketches, a making-of feature for the cover and an interview close the book, taking the reader back through the work behind the finished images. The Japanese edition of See You Later, Melancholia contains 168 pages.
