The acclaimed work adapted into a film in 2011 arrives in a standard Blu-ray edition. Hotarubi no Mori e is another supernatural tale by Yuki Midorikawa, creator of the bestselling Natsume's Book of Friends. First published in Hakusensha's LaLa DX in 2002, the original work drew attention for its skilful, delicate portrayal of feelings and its distinctive atmosphere wrapped in kindness, winning enormous support, particularly among shojo manga readers. It is a gentle, poignant and fleeting love story between a human girl and a mysterious boy who is neither human nor yokai and disappears if touched. Director Takahiro Omori, known for Natsume's Book of Friends, Durarara!! and Hell Girl, has an established reputation for meticulous direction and expression with a live-action quality. The staff behind Natsume's Book of Friends comes together to make this animated film.

Story During her summer holiday, Hotaru, a girl visiting her grandfather's home, wanders into the Mountain God's Forest, said to be inhabited by yokai. As she becomes helpless and begins to cry, a boy named Gin appears before her, wearing a fox mask. After Gin helps her, Hotaru begins to visit him every summer. Before long, the two are drawn to one another. But Gin is a mysterious being, neither human nor yokai, who will disappear if touched.
