HY begins its twenty-first year with fourteenth album Hanaemi, made with the wish that listeners will smile. During a period of restricted activity in 2020, the band continued creating music and released digital singles for five consecutive months, while taking time to consider the feelings it wanted to express.
Hanaemi draws on words for a flowering smile. Each song is imagined as a flower and the album as a bouquet, with handmade herbariums created by the members providing the cover's visual motif.
Gentle, refreshing songs such as Kuruma ni Notte and Kokoro Hoshizora sit beside heartfelt Izumi Nakasone ballads Good Bye and Percentage -m.e.r-. North Forest explores a new sound with a new producer, marking another step toward HY's twenty-fifth anniversary.
