If Tokugawa Ieyasu Became Prime Minister Deluxe Edition Blu-ray imagines a cabinet assembled from Japan's most formidable historical figures. In 2020, as the coronavirus pandemic throws everyday life into turmoil, an outbreak at the prime minister's residence ends in the leader's sudden death. The government's extraordinary last resort is to revive famous figures through artificial intelligence and holograms, creating a team it hopes can steer the country out of crisis.

Mansai Nomura's Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Edo shogunate, takes the office of prime minister. Ryoma Sakamoto, played by Eiji Akaso, becomes chief cabinet secretary; GACKT's Nobunaga Oda takes charge of economy, trade and industry, while Naoto Takenaka's Hideyoshi Toyotomi becomes finance minister. Murasaki Shikibu, Prince Shotoku, Masako Hojo, Yoshimune Tokugawa, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa and Yoshimitsu Ashikaga complete the historical dream team. Their charisma and uncompromising ability to push policies through ignite the public's enthusiasm.

Rookie television reporter Risa Nishimura, played by Minami Hamabe, approaches government spokesman Sakamoto in pursuit of a scoop. Instead, she uncovers signs of a darker purpose behind the celebrated cabinet's success. Directed by Hideki Takeuchi from Akito Manabe's novel, with a screenplay by Yuichi Tokunaga, the film combines its political fantasy with an investigation into who is really controlling this remarkable experiment. Face 2 fAKE provides the score, and Atarashii Gakko! performs the theme song Change.

The feature disc includes the 110-minute film and approximately ten minutes of trailers, teasers and television spots. The second Blu-ray contains 168 minutes of supplementary material: a documentary following two months of filming, the previously unreleased full version of Ieyasu's Atsumori performance, and recorded appearances from the premiere, opening day and box-office celebration. It also includes a cast television special, the film's theme-song promotional video with Atarashii Gakko!, and a special conversation between the group and Mansai Nomura. The discs come in a special outer case with five visual cards.

The feature has Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo tracks, a Japanese 2.0 audio-description track, and Japanese subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers. The supplementary disc uses Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and has no subtitles. The feature Blu-ray is region-free.
