Illustration 2022 brings together 150 artists working across Japan's pop and internet cultures. More than ninety percent of the contributors differ from the previous volume, with participants including Acky Bright, WOOMA, Crisalys, JUN INAGAWA, tamimoon, NAKAKI PANTZ, nico ito, MILTZ and Little Thunder.
Cover artist Cotoh Tsumi, whose work includes YOASOBI key visuals, joins designer Tomoyuki Arima in a conversation about how the cover was developed. Separate interviews consider contemporary illustration from a producer's perspective: Sony Music Entertainment's Yohei Yashiro discusses the field alongside a feature with PIEDPIPER, the general producer of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO, home to virtual singer KAF.
Brilliant Palette printing is used to reproduce the artists' colours and brushwork. Edited by Koji Hiraizumi and published by Shoeisha, this Japanese-language annual contains 320 pages.
