Illustration 2023 surveys Japan's contemporary illustration scene through 150 artists, with more than ninety percent of the selection changing from the previous volume. Spanning pop and online culture, the roster includes aika inagaki, AiLeeN, EMU, Kumi Takahashi, coalowl and TRAMPOLINE, among many others. Brilliant Palette printing reproduces the artists' varied colour and brushwork.
The closing features consider illustration from several creative perspectives: Zutomayo's ACAne speaks as a musician, BALCOLONY designers discuss their field, and cover artist Hanabushi joins designer Tomoyuki Arima to explain the cover's development. Published by Shoeisha and supervised by Koji Hiraizumi, this Japanese-language annual contains 320 pages.
