A special set combining the film Jingi Naki Bakumatsu: Ryoma Shito Hen and the stage production Jingi Naki Bakumatsu: Reiwa Gekito Hen! A new work joins Toei's Movie × Stage media-mix series. Reiwa yakuza travel through time!? The end of the shogunate was a dangerous place!

“You and I will reach the top.” Two men swear that promise: yakuza underboss Kyoji Murata, played by Ryo Matsuda, and his right-hand man Ippei Otomo, played by Takuma Wada. The intellectual Kyoji is the brains and the formidable fighter Ippei the muscle, and together they are about to reach the summit of the underworld. But during a clash with the rabid gangster Tadaomi Date, played by Shogo Suzuki, sent by a rival organization, a mysterious child played by Chika Arakawa suddenly appears and sends Kyoji and his companions back to the closing years of the shogunate.

There Kyoji meets Sakamoto Ryoma, also played by Ryo Matsuda. Astonishingly, Ryoma looks exactly like him. Why does the hero he admires have his face? As if to deepen Kyoji's confusion, a group targeting Ryoma attacks. Ryoma dies protecting him. Without Ryoma, Saigo Takamori, played by Taifu Motomiya, and Katsura Kogoro, played by Hiroaki Oka, cannot be brought together. A new era will never come to Japan. Having witnessed his hero's death, Kyoji decides to take Ryoma's place and achieve the new dawn he envisioned.

Meanwhile, Ippei and his subordinate Akira Takanashi, played by Hiroshi Yazaki, have also traveled to that era and unexpectedly join the Shinsengumi. They act alongside its feared deputy commander Toshizo Hijikata, played by Hideo Ishiguro, Soji Okita, played by Reo Honda, and Sanosuke Harada, played by Kento Ono. Supported by his wife Oryo, played by Ayame Goriki, and former Tosa samurai Shintaro Nakaoka, played by Tomo Akazawa, Ryoma—actually Kyoji—works tirelessly to build a new country. Wanting to return to the present, Ippei is drawn ever deeper into a world governed by a harsh iron code. The turbulent waves of history threaten to swallow the destinies of the two men who once promised to reach the top. Will Japan's dawn arrive? When these two yakuza meet, another incident erupts in the tumultuous final years of the shogunate.

The film cast features Ryo Matsuda, Takuma Wada, Hiroshi Yazaki, Shogo Suzuki, Tomo Akazawa, Chika Arakawa, Hideo Ishiguro, Reo Honda, Kento Ono, Hiroaki Oka, Junpei Edogawa, Taifu Motomiya and Ayame Goriki.

“You and I will reach the top.” Despite that promise, Ippei Otomo, played by Takuma Wada, and Kyoji Murata, played by Ryo Matsuda, part ways in the historical era to which they traveled. Returning alone to the Reiwa period, Ippei finds Kyoto's balance of power transformed. Invasion by the rival Nishikikai has left the Murata Group on the verge of collapse. Nishikikai executive Sotaro Wakamatsu, played by Yusuke Kashiwagi, and his allies seize its territories one after another. Ippei's younger sister Sayo, played by Kaho Mizutani, has caught the eye of chairman Gozo Kitazono, played by Yoshida Metal, who intends to make her his mistress.

Even the few surviving members, including subordinate Mizuki Ozaki, played by Tsubasa Kizu, have accepted the group's impending end. Ippei alone rallies to expel Nishikikai and protect it. Rangetsu Doji, played by Chika Arakawa, appears once more. “I will grant your wish.” The child summons Sakamoto Ryoma, again played by Ryo Matsuda. This time Ryoma has arrived in Reiwa Japan. To repay Kyoji for saving his life, he takes Kyoji's place and joins Ippei against Nishikikai.

The Shinsengumi's Toshizo Hijikata, Soji Okita and Sanosuke Harada, played by Hideo Ishiguro, Reo Honda and Kento Ono, also travel forward, along with Shintaro Nakaoka and Katsura Kogoro, played by Tomo Akazawa and Hiroaki Oka. Divided between the Murata Group and Nishikikai, these historical warriors join the yakuza conflict. Tadaomi Date, played by Shogo Suzuki, also appears, though he should have died in the past. Battles and ambitions resembling the unrest of the shogunate unfold in Reiwa Kyoto. Who will reach the top? What awaits after this conflict between yakuza and samurai?

The stage cast features Takuma Wada, Ryo Matsuda, Kaho Mizutani, Hideo Ishiguro, Reo Honda, Kento Ono, Tsubasa Kizu, Yoshida Metal, Chika Arakawa, Hiroaki Oka, Yusuke Kashiwagi, Tomo Akazawa and Shogo Suzuki.
