Kakushigoto Animation

A story of a father and daughter, filled with love, laughter and emotion, comes to the cinema to celebrate thirty years of Koji Kumeta’s career as a manga artist. The secrets shared by manga creator Kakushi Goto and his only daughter Hime, a fourth-grade elementary-school pupil, moved audiences across Japan. This theatrical re-edit adds new scenes and reveals another ending that the television anime did not show. A further box of the pair’s hidden truths is about to open. It offers a moving story both for those who have already watched the series and for newcomers to Kakushigoto.

What are you hiding? Kakushi draws manga with a slightly vulgar sense of humour, but nothing matters to him more than his beloved daughter. This devoted father has something he does not want Hime to discover: that he works as a manga artist. There is another secret, too—the whereabouts of Hime’s mother. Kakushi’s regrets and Hime’s determination lead beyond their days of love and laughter. What future awaits as the boxes containing the secrets a father has kept from his daughter are opened, one by one?

The theatrical film is accompanied by four cinema stage-greeting sessions: the first and second Girls Day appearances and the first and second G-PRO Day appearances. The edition features a sleeve newly illustrated by character designer Shuhei Yamamoto and an inner jacket newly illustrated by Koji Kumeta. Its permanent printed extras are two postcards featuring Kumeta’s key visual and a new illustration, together with a booklet in a one-page format.
