宇野亞喜良画集 Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope brings together 44 works created by Akira Uno in 2020 and 2021, each inspired by haiku selected by the artist. The paintings were developed over plaster-prepared canvas, building layers of imagery on a textured foundation.
Flowers, moonlight, seasonal landscapes and fantastic figures run through the collection. Rather than simply reproducing the paintings, the book uses cold foil, fluorescent colours and white ink on coloured paper to give the images different printed qualities. This approach brings together Uno's work as an illustrator and graphic designer with specialist printing expertise developed through Design no Hikidashi.
An essay on haiku by poet Mutsuo Takahashi and a concluding index accompany the artwork. Published by Graphic-sha, this Japanese-language artbook contains 56 pages.
