Keigo Higashino Tegami Drama Special Blu-ray

From that day on, I became the younger brother of a criminal. Keigo Higashino's enduring novel Tegami, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies and has also been adapted for cinema, theatre and musical theatre, becomes a television drama.

Through letters exchanged between two brothers, the story follows a young man who suffers discrimination and prejudice as the younger brother of an offender, yet eventually forms a family of his own. Handwritten letters from prison stand in contrast to a society where social media can connect people instantly, bringing this story of letters into the digital age. The drama aired on TV Tokyo and eight other stations at the end of 2018.

"I really am a foolish older brother." Four years earlier, Naoki Takeshima's brother Tsuyoshi broke into a house because he desperately wanted to send Naoki to university. He unexpectedly killed someone there and was arrested for robbery and murder. Sentenced to twenty years in prison, he has sent Naoki a letter once a month ever since.

Naoki works while attending part-time high school and writes back that everything is going well and there is no need to worry. In reality, he is repeatedly forced to change part-time jobs and move from one place to another. In today's social-media society, every happiness he reaches for—further education, love and employment—slips from his grasp because he is labelled the brother of a robber and murderer.

Gradually, Naoki begins to ignore Tsuyoshi's letters. Eventually, he must make a decision of enormous importance to both brothers. Is discrimination inevitable? Bearing the fate of an offender's younger brother, Naoki struggles to live and build relationships with those around him. What bonds will he discover?
