Maru Standard Edition Blu-ray follows a stalled artist whose smallest gesture unexpectedly takes over his life. Tsuyoshi Domoto stars as Sawada, an art-school graduate who has settled into working as an assistant to a successful contemporary artist. He has neither established his own career nor found the energy to try, quietly carrying out other people's instructions instead.

An accident on his way to work injures his arm and costs him his job. Back at home, a solitary ant on the floor seems to guide him into drawing a circle. Without his knowledge, the drawing spreads across social media and turns the anonymous Sawada into an overnight sensation. Fame gives his life new momentum, but the circle gradually begins to define him in ways he cannot control.

Written and directed by Naoko Ogigami, the filmmaker behind Kamome Diner and Close-Knit, this offbeat story considers creativity, recognition and the gap between a person and the identity others construct around them. Go Ayano, Riho Yoshioka and Win Morisaki join an ensemble that also includes Junki Tozuka, Akira Emoto, Hairi Katagiri, Kotaro Yoshida and Satomi Kobayashi. Domoto contributes the score under the .ENDRECHERI. name and performs Machi (movie ver.) as the theme song.

The standard single-disc edition contains the 117-minute film, commentary with Domoto and Ogigami, and trailers. The region-free Blu-ray presents the original Japanese soundtrack in Linear PCM 5.1, with a separate Japanese audio-description track in 2.0 and Linear PCM 2.0 commentary. The feature offers English subtitles and Japanese accessibility subtitles; Japanese subtitles are also provided for the commentary.
