Maruo Pictorial DXIII Revised explores Suehiro Maruo's combination of strange fantasy, romance and Showa-inspired imagery. The collection follows a visual and literary tradition associated with Kasho Takabatake, Edogawa Rampo and Kyusaku Yumeno, bringing those influences into Maruo's distinctive illustrated world.
The volume concentrates on work outside manga, principally from 2014 onward, including cover paintings, book illustrations, theatrical publicity artwork and album art. This revision adds numerous works created through the end of 2020 and introduces a redesigned cover.
Expanded for the fortieth anniversary of the artist's debut, this Japanese-language Pan-Exotica volume contains 214 pages. It is the revised DXIII edition, rather than another volume in the series.
