Medalist Animation

There is a dream they want to fulfil, putting two lives on the line!

The hugely popular figure-skating manga Medalist, serialised in Kodansha’s Afternoon, finally receives its long-awaited anime adaptation, beginning in January 2025. The acclaimed series won first place in the comics division of the Next Manga Awards 2022, as well as the general division of the 48th Kodansha Manga Awards and the general readership category of the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards.

Tsukasa Akeuraji, a young man whose hopes as a skater have been shattered, meets Inori Yuitsuka, a girl who dreams of entering the world of figure skating. Moved by the fierce determination she keeps within, Tsukasa offers to become her coach. As Inori’s talent blossoms and Tsukasa grows as an instructor, the two join forces to aim for the glory of becoming medalists!

The story portrays the passion and effort poured into figure skating with both dynamic energy and delicate detail. Inori is a fifth-grade girl with a burning enthusiasm for skating and the ambition to win Olympic gold. Tsukasa has competed in ice dance at the All-Japan Championships, and her passion inspires him to take up coaching. The prodigy Hikaru Kamisaki, the same age as Inori, is both the goal she admires and a rival she longs to challenge one day. Jun Yodaka, an Olympic gold medalist in men’s singles who retired at twenty, is a brilliant skater who has profoundly influenced Tsukasa.
