White Base returns to space, where Amuro's awakening as a Newtype allows him to defeat one approaching Zeon unit after another. His encounter with Lalah, piloting the Elmeth, creates an intense resonance between their minds, but the battle leads to tragedy. As the war moves toward its conclusion, Amuro must face devastating loss and ask whether humanity can truly change, and where he can finally return.

Encounters in Space concludes the theatrical trilogy that reshaped the 43-episode television series with newly animated material. Released in March 1982, the film features Toru Furuya as Amuro, Hirotaka Suzuoki as Bright, Toshio Furukawa as Kai, Kiyonobu Suzuki as Hayato, Makio Inoue as Sleggar, Fuyumi Shiraishi as Mirai, Yo Inoue as Sayla and Rumiko Ukai as Fraw. Akira Murayama voices Cameron, Motomu Kiyokawa voices Tem and Yasuo Muramatsu voices Revil. Shuichi Ikeda and Keiko Han play Char and Lalah, with Hidekatsu Shibata as Degwin, Banjo Ginga as Gihren, Mami Koyama as Kycilia, Tessho Genda as Dozle and Masashi Hirose as Ramba Ral. Ichiro Nagai narrates.

The 140-minute film is presented on Blu-ray in a 32 cm square EMOTION Big Jacket. Japanese Dolby Atmos audio is joined by the original 1982 theatrical soundtrack in Linear PCM mono, with switchable Japanese subtitles. The original teaser and theatrical trailer are included in their 4K-restored versions on this 1080p Blu-ray.
