Monkey Punch: Manga Katsudo Daishashin Blu-ray

Monkey Punch: Manga Katsudo Daishashin brings together urban action, hard-boiled characters, sensual comedy and the creator's distinctive adult style in an animated anthology. Twenty-four selected works are adapted across twelve episodes, with additional short segments featuring Lupin and his companions. The series was designated R-15 for its original WOWOW broadcast.

Episode one features Spy Kizoku and Bakumatsu Yankee Part 1, followed in episode two by Tomei Shinshi and Bakumatsu Yankee Part 2. Episode three pairs Ore wa Kazano-ha with Bakumatsu Yankee Part 3. Alice the Wild and Shiranami Part 1 appear in episode four, Dracula-kun and Shiranami Part 2 in episode five, and Mr. Samurai and Shiranami Part 3 in episode six.

The second half begins with Outsider and Pinky Panky Part 1 in episode seven. Episode eight features Aru Capone and Pinky Panky Part 2, while episode nine brings together Revenger and Pinky Panky Part 3. Random Ran and Dirty Joke Part 1 lead episode ten, Color Girl and Dirty Joke Part 2 follow in episode eleven, and Pandora and Dirty Joke Part 3 complete episode twelve. These main stories are accompanied by the programme's shorter animated segments.

Chief director Shunji Oga leads a production involving animators and filmmakers including Tsutomu Shibayama and Kenji Kodama. Junichi Iioka supervised the project; Yoshio Urasawa and Nobuo Ogizawa handled programme composition, with Toshihiko Masuda designing the characters and Toshiharu Mizutani directing the art. The voice cast includes Takuya Kirimoto, Masanori Takeda, Masashi Kimura, Akane Sakai, Hiroshi Iwasaki, Satomi Korogi, Daisuke Gori, Tetsuo Goto and Sukekiyo Kameyama.

The two-disc Blu-ray set contains all twelve animated episodes, totaling approximately 639 minutes, plus the unaired Crime Mate as a video extra. An explanatory booklet is included. Japanese stereo audio is provided without subtitles. The live-action Pinup Time interludes from the original broadcasts are not included.
