Mt. Fuji and Happiness Code Blu-ray

Issei Mamehara of JO1 and Yoshie Ichige lead Mt. Fuji and Happiness Code, a family drama about a grandson uncertain of his dreams and a grandmother rediscovering hers. Ichige returns to a leading film role after 44 years in this story of the small pleasures that make an ordinary life meaningful.

University student Takuma moves in with his grandmother Fumiko and discovers university admissions material in the study of his late grandfather Ishi. It is a surprise Ishi prepared for Fumiko: a chance to pursue the education she had dreamed of when she was young. As she takes that step and begins enjoying life as a student, Takuma remains unsure of his abilities and anxious about his future. Together, they find a mysterious mathematical formula in the notebook of Ishi, who loved Mount Fuji, and begin exploring the message he left behind.

Directed by Kenji Nakanishi and written by Yukiko Manabe, the film has music by Goro Yasukawa and the JO1 theme song "Hiraku." Its original inspiration comes from Ishiko Shimada's book about the trust she built through a lifetime working with her students. The supporting cast includes Miki Sakai, Rikako Yagi, Kyozo Nagatsuka, Emisaburo Ichikawa, Ayuta Fukuda of DXTEEN, Ray Fujita and Hidetoshi Hoshida.

The Blu-ray contains the 100-minute feature and a complete event collection covering the premiere advance screening, a special lecture, the pre-release special talk event, release-celebration stage appearances in Ikebukuro and Shinjuku, and the post-release thank-you stage appearance. Two making-of features focus on the university and coffee elements of the production. The film is presented in 1080p with Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround, Japanese Dolby TrueHD 2.0 audiodescription and Japanese accessibility subtitles.
