My Garland follows a century of lingerie design through Hiromi Matsuo's illustrations, with a fictional lingerie shop as its setting. Corsets, stockings, garters, slips and camisoles connect the collection's retro imagery with contemporary designs, exploring the pleasure of choosing clothing for oneself and changing relationships with the body.
Around eighty percent of the artwork was newly drawn for the book, which also includes several short comics. Accompanying essays relate fashion and gender to social history: early corsetry and the outerwear it supported give way to more practical designs and materials, then the lighter underwear associated with the miniskirts of the 1960s. Published by Kawade Shobo Shinsha, this Japanese-language collection contains 104 pages.
