Mysterious Disappearances Anime

A small story of friendship and farewells amid strange phenomena. The popular modern supernatural mystery, nominated in the web-manga category of the 2020Next Manga Awards, finally receives an anime adaptation. Signs bearing an exclamation mark that should never be seen are evidence that an uncanny phenomenon has occurred.

Sumireko Ogawa, an aspiring author working in a bookstore in a certain town, spends another day in aimless conversation with her colleague Ren Adashino. Yet Ren holds a secret she does not know. Some of the ghost stories, urban legends and modern supernatural occurrences people discuss are real. One day, books that mysteriously appear in the shop through reverse shoplifting draw the pair into one inexplicable incident after another. This mismatched duo confronts mysteries lurking in modern society in a modest tale of friendship and parting.

Part 2 contains episodes 7–12. Fairouz Ai voices Sumireko, Daiki Yamashita plays Ren, Eri Yukimura plays Oto Adashino and Yui Horie plays Manami Uname. Rie Takahashi plays Shizuku, Saya Aizawa plays Nodoka Ametsuchi, Yuya Uchida plays the mysterious man, Naomi Ozora plays Himeuo Yorumun and Masako Nozawa plays the station attendant. Tomomi Mochizuki directs and handles series composition, Takuya Tani designs the characters and oversees animation, and ZERO-G produces the anime.

The 142-minute region-free Blu-ray has Japanese Linear PCM audio without subtitles. Regular video extras include Kaii to Otome to Kaidanshi, a special collaboration featuring Fairouz Ai and ghost-story teller Rock Murakami, combining the footage released on YouTube on June 6,2024 with new material, plus web previews. First-press illustrated packaging, the manga booklet and illustration-card collection are conditional bonuses and are not guaranteed with current stock.
