NILFRUITS builds POPGATO around the theme of consumption. Its title combines pop art, the movement concerned with mass production and consumer society, with obbligato, a musical term whose roots also convey obligation and compulsion.
Exploring genres and sounds not heard in the producer's previous releases, the mini album sets its pop surface against warnings about society and piercing feelings about creativity. The songs examine the consumption of hope, rebellion, art, exclusion, trends, affection and parting.
Night Rule appears in a v_flower version different from the original release. Self-covers of Night Rule and Doctrine are also included.
