Before Chizuru meets the men of Hakuoki Shinkai, Ryunosuke Ibuki witnesses the birth of the Shinsengumi. Bereaved, robbed and close to starvation, he reluctantly follows Serizawa Kamo to Kyoto. Although his upbringing has left him bitter toward samurai, living among men determined to become warriors begins to change his outlook. Their ambitions force him to consider what kind of life he wants for himself.
This Switch edition incorporates additions from earlier ports alongside new scenarios and illustrations. Bunkyu Kokoro Oboe revisits the period through twelve characters’ perspectives, while new event artwork expands five main character scenarios. Ounen no Hohitsu adds character commentary to the new illustrations, offering another view of the group’s earliest days.
