Nana Seino and Kentaro Sakaguchi star in a romantic comedy full of unexpected heart-fluttering moments, woven around a couple in a fake marriage. In sickness and in health, they vow not to love each other. A modern woman who believes being alone is the best and a rigid, eccentric office worker with a difficult personality form an unlikely pretend couple.

Akiha Okado, played by Nana Seino, has no boyfriend, but she has friends to drink with, and her rewarding job is enormously enjoyable. She is thoroughly enjoying single life. Kentaro Sakaguchi plays Shu Momose, a rigid and eccentric office worker who, for a certain reason, wants the status of a married man and asks Akiha to enter a fake marriage at their first meeting. An outrageous, sudden proposal begins their life together, and the two clash. Gradually, the real reason behind Momose's fake marriage comes to light. Will living under one roof bring changes to them? What is a happy marriage? What makes a close couple? What true form of marriage will this hastily assembled fake couple discover?

Akiha works as a mid-level designer at Morita Design. At home she changes into comfortable lounge clothes, is perfectly happy with convenience-store food for dinner and loves drinking beer on her favorite sofa. Her work is fulfilling, and she is ready to face a future spent single for life. Some colleagues are busy seeking marriage partners, but the only married person at work is the company president, Satoshi Morita, played by Seiichi Tanabe. Comfortable in that environment, she smoothly brushes aside questions about her own wedding plans when friends announce their marriages and enjoys her carefree freedom.

One day, while having lunch with colleagues at a family restaurant, Akiha unexpectedly witnesses a stranger proposing. The woman suddenly becomes angry, throws water over the man and leaves. Soon afterward, at a drinking gathering, Akiha happens to meet Shu Momose again: the very man who was so spectacularly rejected at lunch. Acting as though the incident with the woman had never happened, he presses Akiha with questions about her views on marriage. Then he suddenly asks, 'Would you like to marry me?' He goes on to describe a form of marriage that Akiha never imagined.

Still furious over Momose's impossible suggestion, Akiha receives a call saying her grandmother, Hatsue Okado, played by Hana Kino, has collapsed. Filled with anxiety, Akiha unexpectedly ends up heading to the hospital with Momose. Hatsue has suffered a mild heart-failure episode and is already looking well when they reach her room, reassuring Akiha. While Akiha steps away briefly, Momose's scheme leads Hatsue to believe the two are dating. For some reason, a marriage registration form then emerges from his bag. Not wanting to shock Hatsue, Akiha agonizes over whether merely filling it in would be acceptable. Meanwhile, another problem comes her way.

The four-disc box contains all ten episodes in director's-cut versions across three main-program discs, with 495 minutes of main footage. A fourth disc contains 180 minutes of extras: the Paravi original story Anyway, I Just Want to Stamp the Marriage Registration, interviews with Nana Seino, Kentaro Sakaguchi and Kana Kurashina, a re-edited preview program, filming wrap-up footage, making-of footage, outtakes and unreleased scenes, and a collection of promotional spots.
