PlayStation 4 Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron Is Back!

What is Bubble Bobble?

Bubble Bobble is an arcade action game planned, developed and released by Taito in 1986. A wizard's curse turns two boys, Bubby and Bobby, into the bubble-blowing dragons Bub and Bob.

As they trap approaching enemies in bubbles and defeat them, the boys head toward the hundredth underground floor of a cave to rescue their kidnapped girlfriends.

The game went on to inspire many sequels and was ported to a variety of home gaming systems.

The bubble action returns

This is a new entry in the Bubble Bobble series, one of Taito's most popular titles. Its bubble-based action and puzzle elements have evolved, while retaining a sense of nostalgia for those who played the earlier games.

It expands the Nintendo Switch version of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, released in February 2020, with new elements.

4 Friends mode

Up to four players cooperate through colourful stages inspired by bookshelves, beds, toys and other objects. Blow bubbles to trap enemies, use bubbles as footholds and defeat your opponents to clear each stage.

A total of 100 stages awaits: 50 on Normal difficulty and 50 on Hard.

A new 100-stage area: The Baron Is Back!

The new area features the invincible enemy from the original Bubble Bobble, Baron von Blubba, known as Skel Monsta in the Japanese game.

Work your way through inventive, rewarding stages consecutively from stage 1 to stage 100, just as in the original arcade version.

Baron von Blubba appears only on dedicated stages. You cannot trap him in a bubble or defeat him, and he relentlessly pursues you wherever you go. Dodge him carefully while defeating the other enemies.

Online rankings, a feature frequently requested by players, have been added. Aim for a high score in the rankings for each mode and for the original arcade version.
