Story: Hatsune Island
The time when cherry blossoms bloomed all year round is now a thing of the past.
Hatsune Island was widely known as an island rich in nature, showing a different face with every season.
At Kazami Academy on Hatsune Island, second-year junior-division student Kiyotaka Yoshino takes part in the newspaper club with five girls. They include Rikka Morizono, a senior known as the academy's idol; Himeno Katsuragi, a childhood friend who is like a little sister; and his cousin Charles Yoshino, who has mixed heritage.
However, Hatsune Island is no longer overflowing with strange happenings as it once was. With no incidents particularly worthy of an article, they spend their days idling in the clubroom.
Then, one winter day...
Even though it is winter, the cherry blossoms across Hatsune Island suddenly begin to bloom at once.
To the newspaper club members' further astonishment, an email arrives on all their mobile phones at the same time. Its sender is unknown. The message reads:
“When the cherry blossoms bloom, at the place we promised...”
The latter half is garbled and unreadable, but something about the words seems significant.
And, astonishingly, the date of sending is 1951.
“This email has arrived from the past! Don't you think it describes exactly what is happening now? Where is the place of that promise? What will happen there? And why have the cherry blossoms suddenly started blooming in the first place? We, the newspaper club, are going to solve this mystery!”
Newspaper club president Rikka Morizono makes that forceful declaration.
Kiyotaka and the others investigate the mystery.
As if invited, they visit the cherry tree that never withers. A woman stands beside it.
Although this should be their first meeting, she feels deeply, deeply familiar.
“Then, shall I tell you the story?”
The mysterious woman recounts a tale from long ago: a story of her meetings and farewells with Kiyotaka and the others, which took place in London more than a hundred years earlier.
Story: Kazamidori
And then the mysterious woman tells another story...
Kiyotaka, the eldest son of the Katsuragi family, one of Japan's foremost families of magicians, crosses the sea with his younger sister Himeno to study at the Royal London Academy of Magic in London, England, commonly known as Kazamidori.
What awaits Kiyotaka and Himeno in this foreign land is the city of London, shrouded in deep fog, and an enormous academy city spread out beneath it.
The academy city consists of three islands floating side by side on an underground lake, arranged like a crescent moon.
Aspiring magicians from all over the world gather there to study magic in the finest possible environment.
Meeting many companions, Kiyotaka enjoys school life even as he feels bewildered by his new surroundings.
These are ordinary yet dreamlike days, repeating as if da capo...
One day, Kiyotaka is walking through London with Ricca.
Beneath a huge clock tower, the two meet a girl.
Holding a small cherry-tree branch, the girl has lost most of her memories.
Examinations reveal that she possesses magical power, and she is placed in Kazamidori's care for a while.
Kiyotaka has a wish entrusted to him by his father.
To fulfill it, he needs to become a member of Kazamidori's student council.
For that reason, Kiyotaka stands as a candidate in the student council election.
Meanwhile, a request arrives from the Queen.
There are people using magic to hurt others.
To prevent an incident before it happens, Kiyotaka and his companions race through the foggy streets of London.
The mysterious girl with amnesia, the fog that never clears throughout the year, and the magical cherry-tree branch she carried...
The gears of Kiyotaka and his companions' fate begin to turn.
It is a story of meetings and farewells, repeating as if da capo.
