PlayStation 4 Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess Premium Box

The thrill of catching enemies in your traps! The culmination of the Deception series arrives.

Lure in the intruders who appear one after another and experience the thrill of defeating them with many kinds of traps. The series began with Tecmo's Deception in 1996 and continued through Kagero: Deception II, which inherited and developed its systems. This culmination appears on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and, for the first time in the series, PlayStation 4. This product is the PlayStation 4 version.

This trap-focused action game adds new characters and modes to the 2014 release Deception IV: Blood Ties. It includes every element of the previous game and supports carrying over its save data. Control two princesses and the heroines who previously gained the power to use traps, and give foolish intruders their final nightmare.

A new protagonist and heroines from earlier games

Alongside the previous protagonist, the Dark Side Princess Laegrinna, a new protagonist appears: the Nightmare Princess Velguirie. Both are daughters of the Devil, but what relationship lies between them?

Three heroines who starred in earlier Deception games also gather across time and space. Fulfil certain conditions to unlock them as playable characters. Five masters of traps present the series' most advanced trap action.

Set and activate varied traps to hunt intruders

Traps belong to three systems: walls, ceilings and floors. Place them in the rooms of each battle stage. Use yourself as bait to guide intruders into position, then activate a trap when the target enters its effective range to deal damage.

Traps also have three attributes: Elaborate, Sadistic and Humiliating. Exploit a target's weakness to trigger Armour Break, destroying armour or clothing so that greater damage can be dealt. Consider each trap's behaviour when choosing its position and aim for Armour Break by targeting weaknesses. Hunt down intruders with your own spectacular trap combinations.

A series record of 170 kinds of traps

The variety of traps available for hunting enemies increases substantially. New additions include traps you can place freely as well as those built into individual rooms.

Some remake memorable traps from earlier games, such as Suezo, Genocide Eye and the Hanging Ceiling. New technical traps change their effects according to player input, so different actions can lead to different combinations even with the same trap.

Two substantial new modes

Two new modes join those of the previous game, both offering extensive replay possibilities for returning players. The Story mode starring Laegrinna also receives difficulty balance adjustments to make it more approachable.

Quest Mode

The other main mode follows Velguirie. Complete 100 quests while progressing through the Quest Tree. By fulfilling challenges on each stage, you can acquire new traps. Enemies include Laegrinna and heroines from earlier games. What conclusion awaits after defeating those who share your powers?
