Myth returns with the wind
Developed by Wolf Team as a new heroine-led action series following Valis, a landmark of action games starring beautiful heroines, the Earnest Evans trilogy is brought together in one collection.
Inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos, these three demanding action games are set primarily in early-20th-century America during Prohibition. The wind priestess Annet Meyer, daughter of the evil god Hastur, and adventurer Earnest Evans journey through America and Europe to stop Hastur's resurrection and crush a military political party's ambitions.
One of Wolf Team's notable works, the trilogy combines speedy action with high difficulty. Like Valis, its heroine-led adventures offer fast-paced side-scrolling action that rewards mastery.
Three games with distinct styles of action
El Viento
Originally released for Mega Drive on September 20, 1991, El Viento stars Annet, the wind priestess. She uses boomerangs and wind magic to fight a cult that worships Hastur.
This highly polished, fast-paced action game evokes Valis with its sense of speed and demanding difficulty.
Earnest Evans
Originally released for Mega-CD on December 20, 1991, the second game is set several years before El Viento. Its protagonist is Earnest Evans, the adventurer who rescued Annet.
Use whip attacks and carefully control the character's many rotating movements to advance through nonstop, exceptionally difficult action.
Annet Futatabi — Annet Returns
Originally released for Mega-CD on March 30, 1993, the third game returns the leading role to Annet. Set in Europe, she fights to shatter a military political party's ambitions.
Annet uses a variety of actions and magic in a belt-scrolling action game where attack alignment is important and success rewards careful mastery.
Convenient features for demanding retro action
Wolf Team's original difficulty remains intact. The collection includes familiar retro-game features such as Visual Mode and Sound Mode, along with save-anywhere and rewind functions.
These convenient features make it more comfortable to play the trilogy's challenging action games.
