God Wars: Future Past is an authentic tactical RPG depicting the conflicts and growth of young leaders in ancient Japan.

Adventure through an original world that blends the Kojiki, Japan’s oldest historical chronicle, with folktales familiar since ancient times. This Japanese fantasy explores the unwritten parts of ancient history through a grand narrative and highly strategic battles.

Familiar figures from Japanese mythology and folktales appear as heroes bearing their own destinies. Their ensemble story begins as they bravely confront the forces of the world and make their lives shine.

Ancient Japan, surrounded by beautiful nature

The setting is Mizuho, a land where people coexist with nature and cherish the four seasons.

Kaguya resists her fate as a sacrifice and sets out to find the mother from whom she was separated as a child, determined to forge her destiny with her own hands.

Ahead lie conflicts between the three nations of Fuji, Izumo and Hyuga, and the anger of the myriad gods toward humanity. Alongside the many companions she meets, Kaguya overcomes successive hardships.

Fuji, the oldest kingdom

Centered on Mount Fuji, the oldest kingdom symbolizes Mizuho’s maternal nature. Its people worship nature and their ancestors as gods, particularly revering Izanagi and Izanami as the deities who created Mizuho.

The kingdom’s founder, Tsukuyomi, is also a shrine maiden able to converse with nature’s gods and the gods of Yomi.

Kaguya and her journey with Kintaro

Kaguya, the third daughter of Queen Tsukuyomi of Fuji, is a shrine maiden with immense spiritual power.

On her mother’s orders, she was confined in the Fuji Asama shrine to become a sacrifice in preparation for the next eruption of Mount Fuji. Seeking freedom, she sets out to ask her mother’s true intentions.

Kaguya, now grown into a beautiful young woman, and her childhood friend Kintaro escape Fuji and travel through Mizuho. She resists her sacrificial destiny and seeks to understand Tsukuyomi’s wishes while shaping her own future.

Characters from mythology and folktales

Character designer Taro Minoboshi gives the cast rich expressions, portraying familiar mythological and folktale figures as approachable people with modern designs.

Monster designer Sawaki Takeyasu, known for Okami and El Shaddai, creates the mighty myriad gods. Their terrifying yet beautiful forms have an imposing presence.

Authentic tactical battles and deep development

Combat uses a traditional quarter-view tactical battlefield. Command your army’s units on three-dimensional maps with differences in elevation, defeating enemies in turn-based battles.

Numerous jobs, skills and weapons let you build a party to your own preferences. Extensive growth systems combine with deep strategy and elements rewarding sustained play.

More than 400 skills and powerful special arts

Skills consume MP during combat. There are more than 400, ranging from offensive abilities to support skills.

Powerful special arts consume the gauge petals accumulated in battle. These abilities become available as the story progresses.

Imposing boss battles

Many kinds of creatures inhabit Mizuho, where the myriad gods dwell. Giant bosses with formidable power block your path, attacking with diverse forms and abilities.
